Sacagawea
Sacagawea was born around the year 1789 by the place thats called Salmon,Idaho. Sacagawea was born into a tribe called the Shoshoni. The Shoshoni tribe lived in Idaho parts of Utah and parts of Southern Nevada. The name Sacagawea means " boat buncher " or "bird girl" .
At age ten she was captured by a raiding band of Hidasta who took her to their camp near the border of North Dakota. Sacagawea was then sold to a French-
Canadian fur trader named Toussaint Charbonneau. In 1804 the corps of discovery the Lewis and Clark expidition had camped for the winter at Fort Madan in Northen Dakota.
She had a baby . So she and her baby were brought so it would establish that the peaceful nature of the expidition and because it would be useful to have someone who spoke Native languages and was familiar with more than one tribe. With her knowledge of the languages customs and tribes Sacagawea became a Native translator and negoiator for the corps of discovery.
