Attack On Pearl Harbor
On Sunday morning Dec. 7, 1941, the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.
They took over 300 planes and bombed Pear Harbor. They also put torpedoes in the water!! The reason they did this was to prevent the U.S. pacific fleet, from interfering with military actions the emperor of Japan was planning. The emperor was planning military actions in the Southeast Asia against overseas territories of the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, and the U.S.
They killed over 2,400 Americans and wounded 1,282. Also one Japanese Soldier was captured.
The very next day Franklin D. Roosevelt proclaimed war against Japan and that was the start of World War Two.
He also proclaimed Dec 7, 1941, "A date which will live in infamy!"
