Red foxes are mid size mammals with fine red orange fur. They all have tall pointed ears and forward facing eyes that allow them to be effective predators of small rodents and an occasional bird. The red fox breeds toward the beginning of winter. Red foxes will usually choose a life mate which they will spend their lives with raising and caring for the young, who are born blind and hairless. They will live in a den with their parents for nearly six months, after that time they will set out on their own to find a new mate and build or find a new den. BY C.A
