Pond Skater What I chose to research was the amazing Pond Skater. They are known water spiders, magic bugs, water scooters, water skippers, and Jesus Bugs. Some people think their cool and some don't think the same. Here are some characteristics of why some like them and some don't. What They Look Like They have 2 antennae's and four segments on both antennae's . They have short, stiff bristles in the 3rd segment. The segments combined are no longer the head. The thorax is long, narrow, and the size is small. The thorax ranges from 1.6 mm to 36 mm long. Some bodies are rounder then other ones. Where They Live These amazing creatures live in calm water or fresh water areas. Pond Skaters prefers a environment with insects and a place that has a lot of rocks and plants to lay eggs on. They want water about 25 degrees and under 22 they don't want. What They Eat They eat whatever falls in the water like spiders or any insects. It will usually share big kills with other insects.
